No poo today

No poo today (yet) but we did see one yesterday and one the day before.

Duckling is loving her pear and apple for breakfast and dinner so I think this is helping.

As well as a slight change in frequency I have also noticed a change in consistency given the fact that duckling is now on 'solids' if you know what I mean.

My advice to other mums worried about the frequency of a baby's poo is not to worry. There is no answer to how often a baby should poo. Each one is unique and their digestive system will deal with things in its own way.

Anyway, she will be teething soon and I believe, from speaking to colleagues with slightly older duckings, that we will have a whole different situation to deal with then. Like being sent home from nursery for two soft stools in one day!

Courgette Catastrophe

Weaning is going well. Duckling really loves carrots, butternut squash and pear. Although steamed and pureed courgette is a definite no no. Don't blame her really. She nearly threw it at me she was so disgusted.

Tomorrow we will try papaya which I understand is much loved by babies.

So far, the introduction of 'solids', if you can call them that - more like mush - has not really had much of an effect on our poo situation. However when she does go, we are in no doubt as there is a distinct change in the smell that eminates.

Hopefully we will have a few dirty nappies over the weekend just to keep mummy and daddy puddle duck happy.

Bring on the carrots.

Am so excited that duckling just had her first meal!

I heated an ice-cube sized portion of carrot but made it too warm so added another frozen cube and mixed the two. She polished off the lot so I heated a third cube which she then wolfed down too! Think she'd have had more so we'll try four cubes tomorrow.

Can weaning help?

I plan to start weaning again this weekend - second time lucky.

The first time we attempted it, duckling wasn't interested at all and by the third day, made sure we were aware of her displeasure by screaming for 15 minutes.

However, the hand munching has drastically increased now and she is starting to take notice when we eat. Not sure how much of that is because she is generally more aware of what's going on and watching us or she's after the food.

She is still sleeping well though and even slept through the night on Wednesday and definitely still satisfied by bottles (expressed breast milk first thing and Easy Digest formula for remaining feeds) as she rarely finishes 7oz. In fact yesterday was just 4 or 5 oz each feed and she totally refused her feed before bed.

Still we have to start somewhere and maybe the introduction of some vegetables may help with her movements!

No sign of poo at all since the free for all on Wednesday.

All or nothing

Today, instead of being a blog about the lack of poo, it is about an abundance of the stuff!

We had three dirty nappies throughout the day and yesterday we had two.

Although I am feeling relived about the frequency of duckling's poo, I can't pinpoint a reason why all of a sudden it should have changed. Obviously just two days of regular pooing isn't something to worry about, but it is unusual for her, so should I be worried? She's also been fussy with her bottles recently, not taking them as well as normal, and never finishing them. She is still sleeping well though and content most of the time during the day so I'll just wait and see.

Poo in the bath

Hilarious!

Duckling just did a poo in the bath!

And that was after a poo earlier this afternoon. Are we on to something?

Today I have learned that baby wipes are far more effective at removing poo from the water. Toilet paper disintegrates too quickly! However, this does leave you with the problem of what to do with said baby wipe which is now oozing with poo, just waiting to seep through your fingers, as you can't put wipes down the toilet!

We suspected duckling may be about to poo in the bath based on her facial expressions in the moments prior to the deed being committed, however, we weren't quite expecting it, having already dealt with a dirty nappy earlier. Hubby tried to hover duckling over the toilet but this gave him the additional problem of how to wipe her bum whilst holding her.

I can conclude that dealing with poo in the bath should not be tackled alone!

Nappy changing at speed

Three nappies full of poo yesterday. I needed to change them faster than the tyre fitters in a formula 1 pit lane!

I think Duckling felt much better afterwards. Is this the start of things to come, lots of poo every day, or will there be nothing now for a week?
